Back home in California. It's nice to be home, even though it's overcast and rainy. This winter break is going to be AWESOME compared to last year's--although I'm pretty sure nothing can be worse than last year's, unless someone died... which I don't want to happen. That is, what I mean to say, I plan to practice a lot, get awesome, get all nit-picky in my recital pieces, and do lots of art. While partying. And drinking. Hey, it could happen. I'm all in the crazy holiday spirit and stuff, and that's rare. I'll be posting art things a lot, I imagine, since the semester's over and I ROCKED my jury. yeah...

If you're in Northern California and need background music for a function, please hire me! Need moneyz! I'm here through New Year's!

:) I am happy. For you 'Merican folks, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving later this week. I have many things I am grateful for and exceedingly thankful for. I hope never to forget how fortunate I am.

On that note, I thank you all for your support of my works and sharing little bits of my life. I am thankful that some of you seem to care, even a little, about what I do and how I am and where my art comes from. My soul needs contact with others in order to thrive, and in my darkest hours I was able to find it here with my art, seeing other's art, and sharing it with you guys. Thank you so very much.

ohhh I don't know. Blah. So mixed up right now. With everything. Everything ever.

11/10: OH MY GOD. Got some "real life" experience with the concert I did last night. Due to a tragic loss of a family member for our English horn player, I got a second oboe part for Mahler's Totenfeier at 2pm yesterday, had half an hour to look at it before the dress rehearsal, and then played it on the concert at 8pm. It was a HIGH STRESS SITUATION. Good news was that I got a helluva lot more right notes in the concert than I did in the dress rehearsal.

Apparently the fear was all over my face, visible from the audience, lol. I must say though, the guy who originally had the part who was then switched to English horn... SOOO MANY KUDOS. Much harder parts, much more exposed solo passages, and he *nailed* it.

We were both sweating A LOT.

Music for tonight...

Polanski's Rape

  • Watching: Daily Show

I don't intend to start a debate here, but I think that no matter the director's fame and genius, the man admitted to 1) rape (and!) 2) of a child in 1978 and fled the country before his sentencing. There is a petition circulating that supports his release from Swiss custody, but the thought of people siding with a rapist, and especially many other prominent people in the film industry who've signed it, makes me SICK. I am disgusted by the arguments for his freedom. No. No one is above the law.

As I admire a great deal of you as artists, and from what little I know of you as internet inhabitants, I know you are human. I know you have morals. I know that many of you would never claim your art as a means of escape from a heinous crime. Please sign this petition and send it to as many people as you can fathom.
